Last month in April 2026, I started posting the daily trending hashtags and topics on X, and the top Google searches on the blog. These have been posted almost every day for 29 posts prior to this announcement.
I have enjoyed providing these frequent posts, and it has been a great way to get some content posted on site nearly every day, but I have decided to change this up. I will be collecting the trends for a week, and then compile all of the trends into a big list to post weekly.
I have realized that many trends tend to last several days or longer, and so I feel like combining the trends collected each day, and removing duplicates can provide the same information. It would just be on a less frequent posting schedule.
Posting the trends weekly will allow me to put more time toward doing other things like posting more 4K wallpapers, and music related posts that I recently started posting.
There are so many different parts of this project I am working on, and there are going to be more changes similar to this made over time as I start to see different ways to be more efficient in publishing content.
To be honest, the trends were never meant to be posted on this site to start with. Collecting the trends was something I started doing long before I launched this website. Originally the plan was to save the trends for publishing the Surf Man Website Directory (The PDF version – which is still in the works to be published).
So for those who have been looking for these trends posts every night, I apologize for this change, but I hope doing it this new way will work out for the best in saving time, and bringing other content to this website. I’m considering that the weekly trends will go on the blog on Friday nights.

Lemmy:
Lemmy is an open-source, self-hostable link aggregation and discussion platform, similar to Reddit or Hacker News, but operating on a decentralized network called the Fediverse. Users can subscribe to “communities” (similar to subreddits) on different servers, or “instances,” and interact with users and communities across the entire network using the ActivityPub protocol. This decentralized model offers alternatives to centralized social media by promoting user control, data ownership, and community autonomy.
I recently discovered Lemmy, and although I haven’t signed up for an account there yet, I have been checking in on some of the discussions that seemed interesting enough to follow, or that may offer some useful resources. Below is a list of some of the topics I check in on from time to time.
