Google’s New Verified Email Makes Android App Sign-ups Instant

Google has introduced a new Verified Email feature in Android’s Credential Manager that lets apps automatically confirm your Gmail address using a cryptographically verified credential already stored on your device, eliminating the need to hunt for one-time passcodes in your inbox. This makes app sign-ups faster and smoother, and developers can also prompt users to create a passkey right after registration for more secure future sign-ins. Beyond onboarding, Verified Email can handle account recovery and re-authentication for sensitive actions like changing key settings in frequently used apps such as social media or home security tools. The feature is currently limited to consumer Google accounts, so Workspace and managed accounts must still rely on traditional verification methods, and some non-Gmail Google accounts may require extra ownership checks.
