Announcing the new SURFMAN.co Website Directory. My name is David Thrift from Southeast Alabama, and this is my new official website.
I am a content creator and curator, amateur photographer, digital art creator, and craftsman.
This new project is not my first endeavor at building and publishing a website directory. It is simply an evolvement from prior projects.
Along with being a content curator, I am a digital content hoarder, especially in the case of hoarding massive numbers of website and social media links.
With this new Surf Man Website Directory, my goal is to provide listings of interest in both a pdf directory format, and online listings at this website.
I came up with the Surf Man name for this directory due to that I love surfing the internet and finding things to share.
I have turned off commenting and “likes” on this blog to avoid spammers. It’s a shame to have to do that, but spammers run rampant on the WordPress.com platform, primarily in the form of like spamming, plus owners of spam blogs trying to leave comments just to get a spam link placed on this website, and I refuse to allow this blog to get spammed.
I will put up a contact page with a contact form on it as soon as I can, and it will be the only means of communicating to me any comments about the content I post on this website.
As this website, and the upcoming pdf directory is considered a directory on it’s own, it will be made of several directories representing both web and social media listings.
Stay tuned for new content to come. This project is currently in it’s beginning phase.
Thanks for using SURFMAN.co!
Below is a look at some other content that may interest you (under construction at the moment).
Lemmy:
Lemmy is an open-source, self-hostable link aggregation and discussion platform, similar to Reddit or Hacker News, but operating on a decentralized network called the Fediverse. Users can subscribe to “communities” (similar to subreddits) on different servers, or “instances,” and interact with users and communities across the entire network using the ActivityPub protocol. This decentralized model offers alternatives to centralized social media by promoting user control, data ownership, and community autonomy.
I recently discovered Lemmy, and although I haven’t signed up for an account there yet, I have been checking in on some of the discussions that seemed interesting enough to follow, or that may offer some useful resources. Below is a list of some of the topics I check in on from time to time.
